In his 1998 book, The Threat, Jacobs uncovered disconcerting reports about aliens' plans for the future of Earth. He reported that a "change" is coming; a future when very human-like hybrids would intermingle with humans in everyday life. "Soon we will all be together," the aliens said. "Soon everyone will be happy and everyone will know his place."

This book examines a disturbing phenomenon that Jacobs began noticing in 2003. The alien integration action plan has kicked into high gear. The incidents of alien abductions have accelerated as have occurrences of alien involvement in everyday human life. A silent and insidious invasion has begun. Alien hybrids have moved into your neighborhood and into your workplace. They have been trained by human abductees to "pass," to blend in to society, to appear as normal as your next door neighbor.

This book illustrates in detail the process of alien integration into society and the strategy and support structure that has been developed to make this happen seamlessly. While he is not certain why they are doing it, the final chapter of the book will provide some chilling possible answers as to why they are here and what they want to accomplish.

Jacobs is a careful researcher who has investigated more than 1150 abduction events experienced by more than 150 abductees. This book focuses on the experiences of thirteen abductees.

Review "David Jacobs has spent his career as a history professor at a major university, and--what matters most of all--he backs his claims with an impressive mass of evidence.…Jacobs treats his subject with ethnographic depth and detail, but without academic ponderousness." --Thomas E. Bullard, PhD, board member, Center for UFO Studies and Fund for UFO Research and author of UFO Abductions: The Measure of a Mystery"Once we accept the extraterrestrial origin of UFOs and that the beings can act purposefully as rational beings invariably do, it is only a small step from UFO phenomena to the co-residency of the two species. It is this logical consistency that makes Walking Among Us constantly grip our imagination with such vengeance." --Young-hae Chi, D Phil, faculty of Oriental studies, University of Oxford"Walking Among Us is a chronicle of human experience that contradicts every current theory about the universe that we think we live in. Jacobs' human observers have experienced a concealed reality that is literally next door to some of us, and that he believes is about to interact, secretly and insidiously, with the rest of us. Walking Among Us explains why extraterrestrial UFOs are here, who is aboard them, and what they are doing. To put it mildly, the evidence from the people that Jacobs has interviewed shows that the extraterrestrials are up to no good. You will find Walking Among Us hard to put down. If enough of us read and pay attention to the evidence in this book, we might be able to avoid the disaster that its evidence portends." --Don C. Donderi, PhD, associate professor (retired) of psychology, McGill University, Montreal, author of UFOs, ETs, and Alien Abductions"David Jacobs has written an extremely important book about UFO abductees and the meaning of their abductions." --Ron Westrum, PhD, emeritus professor of sociology, Eastern Michigan University

The purpose behind the abduction program, from the greatest researcher in the field By The Guardian No-one could justifiably claim Dr. David Jacobs to be a prolific writer. 23 years after `Secret Life' and 16 years following `The Threat', this 2015 publication is the author's third book about the alien abduction program. In `Walking Among Us', Dr. Jacobs focuses on the purpose behind the program and the precise details of how and possibly why it has been carried out on humanity for the past century or so, with some enlightening and genuinely shocking conclusions. You may have read similar words before to describe/publicise works on this subject, but here - for once - it turns out to be true. The content of the book is radically different not only to the author's previous work, but to all other published work to date on this important but puzzling subject. WAU is not, in fact, about `alien abductions' per se, but has a focus far deeper and more radical. The conclusions may explain not only what the UFO phenomenon really is, but the origin and nature of many apparently unrelated `paranormal' phenomena frequently reported by percipients. Here Dr. Jacobs focuses on the reported experiences of 15 abductees, almost all unknown to each other. The author has worked with each of these abductees for at least several years and in some cases for decades. From 2003, some - but importantly not all (to understand why, you'll need to read the book) - abductees began to describe precise details about the process of integration into society by alien `hubrids' (they're different to `hybrids') and the planned support structure built to enable this process. The testimonies of this important subset of abductees seem absurd to anyone unfamiliar with the evidence, but are nevertheless largely mutually corroborative. Dr. Jacobs sets the context of these testimonies thus:"One important factor in understanding...is that people's descriptions of their astonishing experiences go against their own best interests. Successful and high-functioning men and women, many with advanced professional degrees (PhDs, MDs, LLDs), risk their reputations and livelihoods to relate their experiences. Physicians, successful business people, attorneys, psychologists, psychiatrists, scientists, university professors, graduate students, librarians and others from various socio-economic groups...all risk ridicule when they say they are being abducted by beings not of this Earth. Describing these events to others makes the reporter seem too unstable to occupy a position of authority and responsibility...yet the need for many abductees to understand what has been happening to them overcomes the risk of disclosure. They come to me because they are driven to find a rational explanation for the seemingly irrational activities that have intruded upon their lives..."Even to be interested in the subject is to make others question the quality of that person's mind. Abductees confront this early on and the vast majority of them learn to keep their memories to themselves."To describe in detail the content of the middle chapters of the book would be a `spoiler'. It's sufficient to say, dear reader, that you have never heard details like this before. It's radical, it's revelatory, it's all new...and part of a logical, coherent pattern. The final chapter is where the author brings together the evidence, demonstrates why the UFO subject remaining "solidly outside of the paradigm of legitimate scientific or academic research" fits the goals of the program precisely and why the program is now beyond the point where it might be stopped or thwarted. This chapter is an excellent and well-argued essay on its own: radical, original, highly intelligent and perceptive, and the cornerstone of the thesis put forward by Dr. Jacobs in this book. None of this was understood until now, but the way Dr. Jacobs presents his case, it makes absolute sense. I for one hope he's wrong about this, but the evidence presented and the specific conclusions about the abductors is very compelling. As a career-professional academic (though now retired from university life), Dr. Jacobs' writing style is erudite and highly literate with structured arguments explained for the intelligent reader. Despite the weighty subject matter, his writing has a light touch and is a joy to read. As usual there is no new-age mush or ungrounded speculation. Even if your personal belief-system can't accept the author's conclusions (which is likely for a significant minority of readers), you'll likely find WAU an absorbing read and real page-turner.Unconditionally recommended as essential reading for anyone interested in, or personally touched by, these extraordinary and pervasive phenomena. An instant classic.

A little too much emphasis on telling various stories about how the hubrids are being taught to adapt to modern western life and not enough discussion on the motives behind the phenomenon. I found myself skipping the narrative and searching for the more interesting sections in which the author presents his ideas about what he thinks is really going on. A frightening and startling book, but not for those with closed minds.

15 of 16 people found the following review helpful. I hope he's wrong By Craig Lang In "Walking among us," Dr. Jacobs builds a chilling - and perhaps plausible - scenario. He uses data that he has obtained from interviews with close encounter experiencers (he exclusively calls them abductees) to build a scenario that is not pretty. Is he right? I don't know. But I sure hope not.Dr. Jacobs describes extensive interaction between abductees and what he calls "Hubrids" or human-hybrids. These are a final step in the incorporation of some type of alien genetics into a being who is apparently fully alien, but at the same time has all the characteristics of humans. He describes their apparent agenda as that of integration into human society, followed by takeover of our world.Do other researchers see similar patterns? In our own research, we have encountered similar reports of what I refer to as "human-aliens" - apparently anomalous people that have human appearance but vary alien behavior and abilities. So are the narratives Jacobs describes accurate? Are they the full story? If so, is the peril Jacobs describes as real as he portrays? Again, I don't know, but I sure hope not.Does the hypnotic process Jacobs uses result in accurate information? Is the scenario in this book credible? Are there other possible explanations for the close encounter phenomenon? Is the "alien agenda" truly as stealthy and malevolent as Jacobs portrays? Or are other more likely motives behind whatever force or intelligence is behind it? I for one, do not know what the truth is behind the close encounter phenomenon. So perhaps it has at least some claim to being correct. The ideas in this book will require a lot of corroboration. But whether or not the scenario turns out to be true, "Walking among us" presents a chilling new step in UFO and close encounter research. And in the end, I sure hope he's wrong.
