Creation Evolution Debate: 150 Years Later, it Still Rages. Both Sides Are Half-Right. And Both Are Wrong.Meet the opponents:In one corner - Proponents of Intelligent Design like William Dembski,Stephen Meyer, and Michael Behe. Many defy scientific consensus, maintaining evolution is a fraud. They challenge decades of data in biology, chemistry, genetics and paleontology. In the other corner - DevoutNeo-Darwinists like Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, and Jerry Coyne, who insist evolution happens "willy nilly." Strangely, they sidestep the latest science, glossing over crucialquestions and fascinating details.

But what if both sides arehalf-right?What if both sides are missing something important, clinging on to outdated views, theories, and interpretations? There is a third way. Evolution 2.0 reveals experiments which prove that, while evolution is not a hoax, neither are changes random nor accidental. They are targeted, adaptive, and aware. You will discover:
-Nearly every cell in your body can edit its own DNA, combating random destructive copying errors, charting a path for its transformation (page 82)-Genes - far from being set in stone - actually change and adapt to the environment. -How germs re-engineer their genetic destiny in real time by borrowing DNA from other organisms (page 94) (it's the reason why your doctor tells you to never stop taking antibiotics halfway through your prescribed course)-How bacteria communicate, organize themselves into armies, then stage coordinated attacks on your immune system (page 110)-Brand new species in 18 months, sometimes 24 hours - Through two empirically proven, reliable systems of natural genetic engineering (page 146)-How and when cells generate new information and genes that did not exist before (page 150)-Why DNA, which is digital instructions for building proteins, is not merely like code but is code, the same way as the software on your smartphone is (page 38)-How cells switch genes on and off in response to the environment, activating new traits that get passed from parents to kids (page 115)-Many more amazing, scientifically verified facts that not only further technology and medicine, but fuel our sense of wonder at life itself. If creationism seemed to be leaving out important details, here you'll the missing clues. You will discover fascinating real-time evolutionary lab experiments by an eminent scientist in the 1940s, whose work was recognized in 1983 by a Nobel prize & US postage stamp, but then... is still rarely mentioned in school science curricula.  High priests of scientific establishment actively oppose research that threatens antiquated theories, labeling results in scientific publications a "media fiasco".This book explores 70+ years of under-reported evolutionary science. Evolution 2.0 chronicles bestselling author Perry Marshall's 10-year journey of in-depth research. As an Electrical Engineer, author of an Ethernet book and world-renowned business consultant, Mr. Marshall connects the dots in a new refreshing way. He tackles hard questions about evolution with precision, making it clear when information is proven with hard data and when it can only be inferred.
This book will open your eyes and transform your thinking about life, evolution, and creationism. You'll gain a deeper appreciation for our place in the universe. You'll the see the world around you as you've never seen it before: adaptive, efficient, and incredibly elegant.$3 Million Technology Prize: Origin of Information is one of the central problems in modern biology. No one knows where the genetic code came from; no one knows how the first cell developed. To solve this, the author has organized a Private Equity Investment group which is offering a prize, reminiscent of the X-Prize, for a natural process that produces coded information. The prize amount is $3 million USD as of August 2015. Details in Chapter 23 and Appendix 4.

Evolution 2.0: Breaking the Deadlock Between Darwin and Design, by Perry Marshall

Review "Marshall writes in a practical style so that all of his readers can come to understand evolution and can make a thoughtful conclusion on a controversial topic. Recommended for . . . students of biology, history of science, and religious studies, as well as researchers and scholars."—Library Journal“Standing on the knife-edge between traditional evolutionary theory and Intelligent Design, this book will inflame both dogmatic Darwinists and Creationists. It’s irritating to both because it’s friendly to the idea of evolution itself, and because it judges Darwinism too close-minded and reductive. . . . While most scientists submit to self-censorship and dare not question cherished assumptions, the boldest scientists like Albert Einstein, Francis Crick and Stephen Hawking never feared such taboos. Whether agnostics, atheists or believers, they never shrank back from big questions or unconventional solutions. Evolution and design are not either-or, but both-and.”—Jean-Claude Perez, author, Codex Biogenesis and retired IBM Biomathematics and Artificial Intelligence Interdisciplinary Researcher“Marshall is making an invaluable contribution toward more open and honest discussion on the subject of evolution versus creation. The book is well written, often witty, and is extremely thought provoking. . . . It is amazing that this ‘non-biologist’ has analyzed life phenomena at the cellular and molecular levels to such depth and width by applying information gained by cutting-edge methods in the life sciences!”—Dr. Kwang Jeon, Editor, International Review of Cell and Molecular Biology, and Professor Emeritus, Department of Biochemistry, University of Tennessee“Any person of faith who cares about how creation reveals God—and how evolution is actually a devastating arsenal of evidence against atheism—should add Evolution 2.0 to the extreme tippy-top of their reading list. Evolution 2.0 is equally shocking to both atheists and Christians, a genuine eye-opener in a category of its own.”—D. Bnonn Tenant, ThinkingMatters.org.nz“A very readable book and a devastating attack on the neo-Darwinist orthodoxy that evolution is nothing but natural selection acting on random variation.”—Peter Saunders, co-director, Institute of Science in Society, and Emeritus professor of Applied Mathematics, King’s College, London“With considerable wit and amazing insight, Marshall delivers a compelling and forceful synthesis that sets a new standard for discussions about the relationship between science and faith. The result is no less than astonishing.”—Mark McMenamin, Professor of Geology, Mount Holyoke College“The book is wonderfully thought-provoking, as Perry brings a fresh perspective to the increasingly arid (and acrimonious) debate between Intelligent Design and methodological naturalism.”—Crofton Brierley, MS Biochemistry, Oxford University, former department head, Marconi Optical“A remarkable and useful resume of the state-of-the-art of this great problem of science.”—Stuart Pivar, author, Lifecode and On The Origin of Form, and cofounder, New York Academy of Art“I am committed to Young Earth Creationism, and thus cannot agree with some of Perry's conclusions. However, I highly recommend this book to any skeptic who is committed to a purely materialistic paradigm. The science presented here - from the latest research to the most engaging minds on this subject—make this the one book you should read.”—Ray Glinski, MS in Biochemistry, Pastor at Grace Church of DuPage“Evolution 2.0 is a modern philosophical marvel unlike anything I have read in my years of study. It allowed me to put down my guard. The author was not compelling me to believe in an ideology, but rather taking me alongside his journey of self-discovery. I came into this book hesitant. As a staunch creationist I found myself trying to fight with Marshall early on, but his arguments and presentation were flawless and compelling. It was refreshing to see someone examine both sides honestly.”—Marie Sarantakis, Comparative Religion Scholar, Carthage College “Armed with computer science and electrical engineering, Perry fights an uphill battle to unite the space between those who believe evolution is random and those who believe species are designed by God, who in some cases deny evolution itself. . . . Judge this book by the science within its pages—and enjoy the story.”—Andras Pellionisz, Biophysicist, Founder of Fractogene; PhD, Computer Technology, PhD, Biology, PhD, Physics“Sometimes the only way a puzzle gets solved is when someone looks at it with fresh eyes. Perry Marshall is an engineer who started to investigate biology. His book could signal a paradigm shift in the battle between Darwinian evolution and creation/ID. Maybe the war is over. Respond, criticize and debate it . . . just don't dismiss it.”—Justin Brierley, host, Unbelievable? radio program and podcast“Evolution 2.0 is clearly the best book I have read on the topic. It helped me far better understand the fallacy of random mutations and how they are really introduced. This is something I was never taught in genetics in undergrad or medical school.”—Joseph Mercola, M.D., New York Times bestselling author of The No-Grain Diet and Effortless Healing

From the Author No one is indifferent to the question of "Creation-Evolution." Everyone wants to know. When I explain the discoveries in this book to people of all walks of life, they're immediately fascinated. Yes, even at dinner parties.I presented this at a secular business function in Chicago. Afterward, person after person thanked me for resolving, in one woman's words, "this ridiculous conflict between science and religion." (She happened to be a Buddhist.) Others thanked me for revealing science that no one else had bothered to tell them. One entrepreneur, an owner of a multi-million dollar company, borrowed ideas from nature and re-invented his business.Recently I gave evolution / intelligent design talks to two different conservative Christian home school groups. Both times, the organizers were besieged beforehand with nervous emails from concerned parents, wondering what I was about to teach their kids. Most embraced creationism and were wary. But afterwards, nothing but gratitude. An eager group of parents and kids stayed for two hours after, hammering me with curious questions.Contrary to what Creationists always told you, evolution is not a hoax. Scientists engineer new species in the lab at breathtaking speed every day. The mystery behind this is the cell's spectacular ability to produce and modify code.Contrary to what Darwinists always told you, evolution is not steered by blind mutations. Rather it is fueled by the ability for nearly every cell in existence to cut, splice, re-arrange and re-engineer its own DNA. They do this in direct response to hundreds of inputs from their changing environment. To get to the bottom of this mystery, I've formed an investment group offering a technology prize for Origin of Information. The prize caps at ten million dollars. It seeks a material answer to the question: "How do you get a non-living, non-programmed system to organize a sequence of predictive choices - machine-building instructions like 1 0 0 0 1 1 0 - without a designer?" This problem is trickier than it first appears. Origin of life demands an answer to this question; meanwhile, cells do this every day... but how do they do it?Every technology innovation we seek has already been solved in the cell, we just need to study it.This book bridges the gap between two opposing sides (creationism and Darwinism), each of which told you less than half the story. This book shatters traditional boundaries between science and religion, showing the way to new medical and technological breakthroughs. As this book has come to fruition, many people have come out of the woodwork, expressing almost identical frustrations at how both extremes in the debate have ceased looking for answers, and only push their tired dogmas. The task of discovery is never done. My dream for this book is that it will usher in a 2nd Renaissance of curiosity, wonder and exploration about the universe we are part of.

An honest review from somebody that ACTUALLY READ THE BOOK!If you have a fixed mindset (meaning no amount of evidence or science could ever open your mind to new perspectives), then this book is not for you. However, if you're not sure where you stand on the topic of Evolution versus Creationism, or perhaps you have a hunch that this isn't an either/or question, then this book will give you a FAIR assessment of both sides of the question while REFERENCING tons of other authors and research. This book is not Perry Marshall's opinion on the topic of evolution, it's a collection of gathered research laid our for the reader to come to their conclusion based on years of prior research from both sides of this topic. In fact, Perry actually takes you through his personal journey of doubt that almost shattered his entire belief system. This book serves both as an excellent "101" starting point if you're new to the debate, or if you're a professional in the field, you can follow Perry's explanations at a very detailed level by following-up on his well documented resources.NOTE to the wise: A book written about a polarizing topic is going to have critics at both ends of the spectrum and this book is no different. However, be very cautious about reviews from unverified purchases or individuals that appear to not have read this book. In reading all of the reviews on this book, it's apparent that there's a coordinated attack from a group of individuals that have not read the book and are determined to attack the product simply because it's conclusions do not align with their fixed views on the topic. Don't fall prey to their shallow assessments when they haven't even flipped a page in the book.

By The Flash I'd prefer a 4.5-star review, but it's definitely way better than a 4. . . .The first 152 pages (beginning with Chapter 2) are stellar. With only a couple of minor tweaks, they should be required reading in every high school biology class.Marshall absolutely trashes the neo-Darwinian evolutionary “model.” NOT because he is opposed to the idea of evolution, but because he demonstrates why the whole “undirected,” “purposeless,” “random-mutation” BASE of the “neo-Darwinian consensus” is not only un-SCIENTIFIC, but wholly ANTI-scientific. It is a fundamentalist just-so story with as little real scientific evidence FOR it–and as much AGAINST it–as is the fundamentalist anti-evolutionary story of the young-earth creationists.So. What does this iconoclast suggest in place of either or both of these venerated hypotheses? He introduces (to those of us who are otherwise unaware) or–if you happen to be one of the rare group of people who are not specialists in the field and are, yet, aware of these things–he PRESENTS at least five tools that have not only CONCEPTUAL but EXPERIMENTAL evidence for the FACT that they are sources of real evolutionary changes that are helpful-to-the-species-in-which-they-occur and/or productive-of-new-species. Specifically, he describes and explains* DNA transposition;* horizontal gene transfer;* epigenetics;* symbiogenesis (creating/evolving new species; demonstrated in the laboratory); and* genome duplication. (I don’t recall that Perry produces laboratory evidence that this has produced new species, but he at least presents the tantalizing evidence for how and why it APPEARS new species have been created in this manner.)Marshall is--and, in Chapter 1, he openly states that he is--concerned not only about the scientific but the religious implications of both the neo-Darwinian random-mutation and young-earth creationist "just-so" stories. Personally, I think that chapter--with minor tweaks--would serve well in an introduction. It is personal and explains his motives for digging as deeply as he has. But it is, as I say, personal. It is not scientific. For the next 139 pages, beginning with Chapter 2, Marshall maintains an assiduous focus on some rather mind-blowing science that, as others have noted, seems to be completely absent from all popular--undergraduate and lower--discussions of evolution.WHY I AM NOT THRILLED WITH THE BOOK AS A WHOLEFirst thing that bothered me: Marshall presents a lousy, Hugh Ross-inspired eisegesis of Genesis 1 and 2 (Appendix 2, referenced at the top of the second page in Chapter 1). Happily, he humbly admits that “The view [I present here] is a work in progress, but it seems to work well so far” (p. 310) and, “I have presented my best current interpretation of Genesis 1, Genesis 2, and modern science. It’s not written on stone tablets. I offer this to you provisionally. Our interpretations can and will evolve as discoveries are made. I have not even begun to explore all the different views, but so far, this is the one that makes the most sense to me” (p. 330).Still, this foray into an area where he obviously lacks competence is a black mark, in my mind, against the book.As already noted, except for about four or five very minor infelicities, pp. 13 to 152 in the book are, to my mind, stellar and mind-blowing.Beginning on page 155 and, then, through page 173, however, the book loses some of its power. I think Marshall engages in a kind of conceptual “genome duplication” if his own . . . and the results are not terribly useful. There are minor bits of “new material” in that section, but otherwise it seems largely repetitive of things he has covered earlier in the book. From pages 177 on, he offers a hodge podge of brilliance and insight, and then muddled repetition. He combines personal anecdote (that often feels off-topic), science, philosophy, theology, and more. I muddled through, but I had lost the zeal I had felt on pp. 13-152 to read every word he had to say.For those who want a deeper discussion of one of the key issues Marshall deals with on pp. 13-152, his 26-page Appendix 1, “All about Randomness,” is well worth the read. So are the much shorter appendices 3 and 4.

13 of 15 people found the following review helpful. I don't care if you are Stephen Hawking or Rick Warren, THIS BOOK DEMANDS YOUR ATTENTION! By R. Steven Kurti I am a PhD trained physicist, and I was a little skeptical about what I would find in this book. In addition to my experience in lasers and electro-optics, I recently worked in a medical university doing research with doctors, dentists, and other biologists, so the topics in this book were quite familiar. I bought the book a couple weeks ago but couldn't put it down once I started. It was positively intriguing. So what did I think? At the very least, the field of biology needs a major overhaul. Because I never really delved deeply into biology until my recent stint at the medical university, I feel like I was spoon-fed cold oatmeal instead of a steak dinner by the biology textbooks I had through my schooling. I was presented a very one-sided view of just how powerful cells really are. I have plenty of experience building experiments and creating prototypes, and I don't know anyone in the field who has ever created a self-replicating, self-healing machine. In several fields, we are getting close to finding methods, but not at the efficiency of the cell. And all this is done in the context of block-wise, re-adjusting code that the cell can rearrange at will when it finds the need for adaptation--FASCINATING!!On the other end of the spectrum, I have never considered that DNA might actually be code--like computer code. Because of my work with laboratory equipment and measurements, I am quite familiar with the need to check and double check communications and data. I am at a loss to explain how the code in cells arose from chemical reactions alone, and Marshall doesn't shy away from the hard questions. I'm still not sure I agree with everything Marshall asserts in the book, but it challenged almost every sacred cow I had regarding biology, evolution, and particularly the idea that in addition to energy and matter, we must also consider information.GET THE BOOK! Swallow your pride. Ignore your fear. Try on some new ideas. I don't care if you are Stephen Hawking or Rick Warren, this book demands your attention! The debate is not what you think it is. Educate yourself, and quit hiding from the hard questions. As a scientist, I demand better answers than I've been placidly given. You should demand the same. This book is not the end of the discussion. It is only the beginning...
