About the Author Nick Spalding is an author who, try as he might, can't seem to write anything serious. He's worked in the communications industry his entire life, mainly in media and marketing. Beck When I started reading "Love and Sleepless Nights" by Nick Spalding, I was pleasantly surprised at how much it seemed to parody my own life....from the foray into marriage... to the unexpected, yet pleasant surprise of parenthood. There were times that I laughed out loud and other times when I simply sighed with understanding.Jaime and Laura Newman have been living newlywed bliss....living as they like....doing what they want, when they want to do it....hanging with friends....with no real responsibility.....that is until she gets violently ill during a job interview...a job she desperately wants, after recently losing her chocolate business. Never in a million years did either of them think they would be parents, at least not at this stage in their lives. And from the moment they realize that they are going to be responsible for someone else, they begin to experience all that growing pains of becoming 3 versus 2. As both learn to navigate their new lives, they experience a series of hilarious events that will only leave you in stitches.What I really liked? I loved the actual layout of the story. Jaime blogged his experiences, while Laura wrote diary entries to her deceased mother relaying hers. And the story ended in iTalk by Poppy (the beloved child) written in 2031. Telling the story in this fashion was pure genius. You not only enjoyed the story from the perspective of the person telling the story, but you also got to see how the opposing person viewed what was happening.In conclusion, I enjoyed this book and plan to read the next. Spalding definitely wrote a winner.

A delightful, laugh-out-loud tale By a With "Love and Sleepless Nights," Nick Spalding told a laugh-out-loud tale from the point of two people of different genders, each writing their own tales on the same subject.Laura and Jamie are happily married in the UK (even those not accustomed to reading British English should be able to read this novel with little difficulty), and they have no plans of extending their family. Through Laura's diary to her deceased mother and Jamie's blog (I'm curious to know who reads it as it seems none of his family or friends do), hilarity ensues on every other page or so as the couple finds themselves first expecting and then navigating that difficult-yet-blessed first year of parenthood. Anyone who has been in their shoes, or thinking about it, should read this book as it is a very good account of what (expecting) parents encounter, along with some artistic stories for both humour and drama (the only part where I wasn't shaking with laughter) and likely making American readers wish women here received paid maternity leave. Spalding also ended the novel in a fabulous, if somewhat morally questionable way (for the characters).That said, if this book were to be made into a movie it would be rated NC-17 (at least here in America) for sexual content, language, references to drugs and actual alcohol use... and for those out there who are very conservative, be aware that there is a homosexual couple. Overall, this was delightful and excellent. Recommended.

From the first chapter I was laughing with tears in my eyes, then when we first hear from Jamie I had to put it down from laughing. I tried to tell a friend at work about it and again started laughing so hard I had to stop and compose myself.I am a little sad with the ending I have to say... I can only hope that there are some lost diaries and blog posts out there that eventually come to surface. I can't have this be the end of Laura and Jamie! I need to know what happens, there are too many good years to read about.I would recommend Love... From Both Sides (A laugh-out-loud romantic comedy) and Love... And Sleepless Nights (A laugh-out-loud romantic sequel) to anybody who would ask my opinion... and truth be told to people who don't ask for it because they would not be disappointed.
