By Jon I didn't realize that Taiwan has so much of a complicated and rich history and with this book, even before you get to start reading about Taiwans 25 travelling secrets, there's a great introduction which really does open your eyes to what has made Taiwan the beautiful country that it is today!I actually downloaded this book because my mother and sister are travelling to Taiwan early next year and I really want to make this trip as memorable as possible for them, really think they deserve it.With the traveling secrets included here I just know they're going to love the country and can see them booking to return as soon as they get back!Impressive Waterfalls, Climbing on KeeLung Mountain, a Volcano Trek, 'Creative Experiences' and visiting various local markets are just some of the trips detailed in this book and these are all described beautifully with related Facebook page, website and Google Map information. In fact, pretty much everything you need to enjoy these trips.There's also some really good mini guides at the back of the book as well, where the author lists things like 'best coffee shops', 'best clubs', 'hostels', and much more...I think I'll be a little bit jealous of the two of them next year!Great work author, look forward to more of your travelling guides.

Plenty to see and do in Taiwan By Denniger Bolton I’ve been planning a trip to the Orient and although I hadn’t really considered putting Taiwan into one of my stops, after reading this book by Antonio Araujo whose book I read about Thailand and Southeast Asis, makes me want to put Taiwan and its capital Taipei on the list of places to visit. I have to admit I know very little about Taiwan and come to find that even though it’s in the top 20 largest economies in the world, it’s virtually undiscovered by Westerners. After reading about the “25 secrets while skipping the tourist traps,” there are plenty of things to see and experience in this Chinese democracy full of friendly people. A trek to the top of Keelung Mountain to see a perfect sunset, the Maokong Gondola with its eye-catching cars, Mount Qixing, the tallest mountain in Taiwan and a dormant volcano, the various night markets, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial which at least I’ve heard of and the GuanYin temple are now on my list. I did not know that the world’s tallest building was there, Taipei 101, passed in height by the skyscraper in Dubai. I have also always wanted to ride a Bullet Train and Taiwan has one. I like how the author has in the appendix, the Best Bars, the Best Vegetarian Spots, Best Coffee Shops and Hostels as well as Traditional Festivals, and it’s a country of numerous hot springs.

The Locals Travel Guide For Your Trip to Taiwan was a fairly interesting and in-depth guide to Taiwan that takes the reader through all aspects of this island, from the food, religions, and customs, to traffic, how to socialize with the locals, behave at a funeral, take a bath, manage a business as a foreigner, and how to get settled in upon arrival. People who are planing on moving to Taiwan or just going there for a relaxing vacation will find this very informative!
