Orlon was the nicest, most friendly farmer on Dwarf Road. The perfect target for the likes of Ty the Parson who roamed about beginning quests here, quests there, quests everywhere, all in the name of saving the world from this evil threat or that. So it was Orlon learned his fate, or at least thought he had, late one night when Ty the Parson dropped by for a visit -- and so it was confirmed, or so he thought, when the Parson returned the next morning with a party of warriors in tow. Not even his best friend, Tarl Bimbo, who always fancied one day having a walkabout, could save him from taking a journey to who knew what end...

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A great quest By Thomas W Blair Jr If you like fantasy adventure stories like the Hobbit, you will enjoy this book. An unlikely hero is called upon to save the world. Along the way he is joined by many diverse individuals. Each character seems to be larger than life. Add the characters to a perilous journey, full of mystery and magic, and comedic breaks and you have Tibtarnitallimardarian. A fun read indeed.

The adventures of Orlon and Tarl clip along at a fairly fast pace, which is something I look for in a good read. The first review already gave a short symposis of the book, so there is no reason to repeat that. I was hooked into reading this book as soon as I read just a portion of the Introduction. The author's journey in finally writing this book was no small feat. As a matter-of-fact, his life experiences as explained in the Introduction should be made into a novel. I found myself wanting to know more about the author; how he was able to pick up the pieces and move on with his life. Such a story, I think, would be an inspiration to others who have found their own lives truncated by some irresponsible person or by the unpredictable fate in life that stole their dreams from them. The author's writing style is incredibly smooth. Punctuation and sentence structure seem to be correct as is the spelling and use of words. I mention this because now-a-days with Amazon publishing just about anything, I see a lot of "errors" in grammar, quotations, etc. This is a book I plan to use as my personal guide to writing. Tim gives some credit for his own writing ability to Rober E Howard and Lester Dent; I would give my writing credit to Timothy Ray Jones. He has learned his lessons well, but is probably a natural writer in his own right. He tells a story like an artist. For example: every description of a charater is thorough and within a few words the reader knows exactly what happened, how it happened, who it happened to and what to expect next. The characters stay true to form and the reader has a good idea how each character may react in that given situation. The story events are orderly and easily remembered. I truly enjoy this author's ability to make a story fun and enjoyable.
