Old jokers wearing pajamas, mothers and daughters at gun barrel length, and new humanitarianism from the Chief. My, my. It's just another wonderful, and all too short, visit to the imagination of JT Valentine and the denizens of Oak View. Tautly plotted and full of snappy dialogue, this one is another winner. Keep 'em coming, JT.
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A delight for our 'Lucky Eyes".... By Anne Graham Interesting new format to ask questions of a reviewer here on Amazon. Not sure I like it. Unlucky Eyes defies such simple metrics. The plot of this contribution to the Max Knight series does not rely on complex twists and surprises around the murder; rather it does a very believable job breathing life into the complex family relationships and motivations around it. It is a bit of a different situation for Max to find himself in and it is handled thoughtfully by the author. Max is the kind of policeman I would love to encounter were I ever involved in such a crime.... he is caring and insightful and witty.... and still able to engage his fellow man in a very human way.... unlike, I am sure, the grimmer and more bureaucratic reality of police work in the real world. Max is the kind of detective we ought to have and thus a genuine delight to accompany thru his life and adventures. I am so happy to have discovered this series !!

Max can't seem to drive home from work without finding himself embroiled in a mystery--thank goodness. I loved the wit and wisdom as usual, and even more I loved the caring and understanding way Max dealt with the moral issues in this one. As a cop he has to deal with whoever comes his way. In this case, it's someone acting like a jerk on the freeway, and that's only for openers to this great story. Loved the cover, by the way!
